Pakistan has conveyed an updated Iranian proposal to the United States, according to a Reuters report, as Washington weighs its next steps in the ongoing conflict.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency cited a source close to the negotiating team as saying the proposal focuses on ending the war and includes “confidence-building measures by the American side.”
The report made no mention of any concessions related to Iran’s nuclear program, which remains central to U.S. demands.
The development comes as President Donald Trump grows increasingly frustrated with the pace of negotiations.
Trump met with top members of his national security team Saturday to discuss the path forward in the war, and he is expected to hold additional meetings early this week, according to CNN.
The president has also expressed frustration over the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and persistently high oil prices despite a ceasefire that has been in place for more than a month.
Over the weekend, Trump signaled a more urgent tone in a series of posts, warning Tehran that “the clock is ticking” and urging rapid movement toward a deal.
“For Iran, the clock is ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” he wrote.
Trump also shared several AI-generated images suggesting potential military action, underscoring the mounting pressure as diplomatic efforts continue.
With the proposal’s details still unclear, key questions remain unanswered.
With Trump signaling impatience and warning that time is running out, the coming days could prove decisive, raising the possibility that diplomacy may quickly give way to renewed military action.
