The joy of Independence Day is inseparable from the memory of those who made it possible.

As Israel approaches the somberness of Memorial Day, followed immediately by the joy of Independence Day, the nation once again finds itself holding both grief and gratitude at the same time—a reminder that its independence has never come without a cost.
From the War of Independence in 1948 to today’s battles against threats from Iran and along the Lebanese border, each generation has been called to defend the same fragile miracle. And yet, through it all, the words of Israel’s anthem still define the nation’s spirit: We haven’t lost our hope.
For more than 2,000 years, the Jewish people carried that hope across continents and through exile, in prayer and memory, until in our lifetime it has taken shape before our eyes—a thriving Jewish state, a restored homeland, and the center of Jewish life once again.
As antisemitism rises around the world, Jews are returning in record numbers to their biblical homeland. The words of the prophets, once read as distant promises, are unfolding in real time.
As it is written in Amos: “And I will return the captivity of My people Israel… they shall rebuild desolate cities and inhabit them… they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine… And I will plant them on their land, and they shall no longer be uprooted from upon their land.”
In Ezekiel: “But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people Israel, for they are about to come.”
And in Jeremiah: “Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth… and I will bring them again to this place,” alongside the promise, “And there is hope for your future… and the children shall return to their own border.”
Today, these words don’t feel distant—they are visible in Israel’s flourishing land, its growing cities, and its enduring spirit.
Independence in Israel has never been taken for granted; it is earned, defended, and paid for in sacrifice. The joy of Independence Day is inseparable from the memory of those who made it possible.
And still, despite the grief, the threats, and the challenges, the story of Israel continues to move forward—grounded in reality, shaped by history, and sustained by hope.
As we mark this moment, we also look ahead. We pray that what we are witnessing continues to unfold toward its full completion, that He will return the remnant of His people and gather them in peace, and that Israel will one day live without threats from beyond or within its borders.
May our soldiers return home safely, and may the sound of sirens be replaced with the sound of life and joy throughout the land.
From the silence of Memorial Day to the celebration of Independence Day, we are reminded that this story is still being written.
We wish you strength in remembrance and pride in independence, and at this crucial moment in history, we stand United with Israel.
