“Hezbollah is playing with fire, and the president of Lebanon is dragging his feet.”

Tensions along Israel’s northern border continued to escalate overnight, as the Israel Defense Forces struck and eliminated four Hezbollah terrorists belonging to the group’s elite Radwan Force in southern Lebanon. Among those killed was the terrorist responsible for the unit’s logistical support in the region, the IDF said Friday.
According to the military, the targeted strike was carried out in the Rmeish area of southern Lebanon under the direction of the Northern Command and with the support of the Israeli Air Force. The operation eliminated the individual overseeing the transfer of weapons and the restoration of Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure in the south, along with three additional Radwan operatives.
“The actions of these terrorists posed a direct threat to the State of Israel and its citizens, as well as a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said in a statement. “The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel.”
Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a warning to Hezbollah and the Lebanese government, saying, “Hezbollah is playing with fire, and the president of Lebanon is dragging his feet. The Lebanese government’s commitment to disarm Hezbollah and remove it from southern Lebanon must be fulfilled. Maximum enforcement will continue and deepen — we will not allow a threat to the residents of the north.”
A senior Israeli official told the Al Arabiya network that there are “serious assessments” indicating Hezbollah has begun rebuilding its capabilities and has succeeded in smuggling hundreds of short-range rockets from Syria. “We have conveyed a message that we may strike the Dahiyeh again if Hezbollah is not disarmed,” the official said, referring to the group’s Beirut stronghold.
The strike comes amid sharply rising tensions along the northern border. In recent weeks, the IDF has launched near-daily strikes against Hezbollah terrorists and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. Last week, Israeli ground troops also conducted a rare raid inside Lebanese territory.
Since the start of the conflict more than two years ago, Hezbollah has repeatedly tested Israel’s resolve by firing rockets, anti-tank missiles, and explosive drones into northern Israel — actions the government in Jerusalem views as intolerable violations of its sovereignty.
With both sides intensifying operations, the northern border remains on edge, as Israel vows to continue its campaign until Hezbollah’s military infrastructure is dismantled and its threat to Israel’s citizens removed.
