“If the ayatollahs make the mistake of attacking us, they will face a response they cannot even imagine,” Netanyahu warned.

Israel’s next generation of combat officers graduated Thursday at a ceremony held at the IDF Officers Training School (Bahad 1) at Camp Laskov, against the backdrop of an ongoing multi-front war and rising regional tensions, including escalating threats from Iran and its proxies.
The ceremony was attended by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Defense Minister Israel Katz, underscoring the national significance of the moment as Israel continues to confront what leaders describe as an existential security challenge.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered a direct warning to Tehran, stressing that Israel remains fully prepared for any escalation. “We are ready for every scenario,” Netanyahu said.
“If the ayatollahs make the mistake of attacking us, they will face a response they cannot even imagine.” He added that Israeli forces continue tightening their grip around the Gaza Strip, where the war began, reiterating Israel’s war objectives: dismantling Hamas and ensuring Gaza is fully demilitarized. “We agreed with our friends in the United States: there will be no reconstruction of Gaza before demilitarization,” he said.
Netanyahu also emphasized the unity reflected in the ranks of the graduating officers, describing the IDF as a true “people’s army.”
After meeting the cadets, he said he witnessed Israelis from every background standing shoulder to shoulder. “Jews and non-Jews, men and women, secular and religious, from cities, villages and kibbutzim,” he said. “The IDF comes from the people, and the people place their trust in you.”
Chief of Staff Zamir framed the ceremony within Israel’s broader security reality, noting that the IDF is currently managing a complex, multi-arena campaign while maintaining constant readiness.
“Our eyes are open in every direction, and our finger is on the trigger more than ever,” he said. “Anyone who seeks to test our determination will encounter powerful force and pay an immediate and heavy price.”
Zamir stressed that national unity remains a strategic necessity during wartime, warning that internal division weakens Israel’s ability to defeat its enemies.
He also announced the implementation of the IDF’s new multi-year modernization plan, “Hoshen,” designed to strengthen integration between regular, career, and reserve forces and ensure long-term operational superiority. “We need everyone,” he said. “We cannot afford to give up on any part of the nation.”
Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the graduating officers as the newest leaders of what he called a “generation of heroes” carrying Israel’s security through more than two years of continuous conflict.
He said Israel has shifted toward a doctrine of initiative and decisive action, emphasizing preemption and the removal of threats beyond Israel’s borders. “We will not allow threats of destruction against the State of Israel,” Katz declared. “To all our enemies I say: do not test us. You will face a united nation and a strong, victorious army.”
President Isaac Herzog focused on the responsibility of leadership, telling the cadets that future national leadership often begins on the parade ground. “Leadership is not only a privilege,” Herzog said. “It is responsibility, learning from the past and guiding the future with accountability and transparency.”
The ceremony took place as Israel remains on high alert amid growing concerns over Iran’s regional ambitions, its advancing military capabilities, and continued support for armed groups across the Middle East. Israeli leaders have repeatedly warned that Tehran’s actions, from nuclear development to proxy warfare, pose the central long-term threat to Israel’s security.
Against that backdrop, the graduation of new combat officers carried symbolic weight beyond a routine military milestone.
As Israel faces ongoing fighting in Gaza, persistent threats from Hezbollah in the north, and the possibility of direct confrontation with Iran, the message from the country’s leadership was clear: the next generation of commanders is being entrusted with defending the nation during one of the most consequential periods in its modern history.
