A Democratic congressional candidate in Texas is under growing scrutiny after publicly promoting extreme antisemitic rhetoric, including calls for American Jews to be imprisoned in internment camps and accusations that Jews run global criminal and trafficking networks.
Maureen Galindo, a candidate in the Democratic runoff for Texas’ 35th Congressional District, also called for treason trials against Americans who support Israel.
Galindo won her March primary and is now competing in a closely watched runoff election set for May 26, with early voting already underway.
Critics say the silence from Democratic Party leadership has been deafening.
Despite the severity of the rhetoric, there has been no major national condemnation from party leadership and no serious effort to publicly disavow her candidacy before voters head to the polls.
Jewish Americans and supporters of Israel are warning that rhetoric once considered politically unthinkable is becoming normalized in mainstream politics.
We are urging Americans to contact their elected officials immediately and demand public condemnation before the election takes place.
All US citizens must call their senators and congressmen to make clear that anyone advocating internment camps for Jews has no place in Congress.
