Trump has repeatedly warned Iran of a “massive armada” heading its way.

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest and most advanced nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the world, is making its way to the Middle East, marking a significant escalation in the U.S. military posture toward Iran.

The Ford is expected to join the USS Abraham Lincoln and its carrier strike group, which arrived in the region late last month. Together, the deployment would place two U.S. carrier strike groups in the Middle East.

Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon had instructed a second aircraft carrier strike group to prepare for possible deployment as the U.S. readies for potential military action if negotiations with Tehran fail.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump shared the report, reinforcing expectations that a second carrier would be sent to the region.

Trump has repeatedly warned Iran of what he described as “a massive armada” heading its way, signaling readiness to use overwhelming military force if diplomacy collapses. “We have an armada that is heading there and another one might be going,” the president said Tuesday.

The development comes just after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concluded a roughly three-hour meeting with Trump at the White House focused primarily on Iran, as well as Gaza and broader regional issues.

Following the talks, Trump wrote: “There was nothing definitive reached other than I insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a Deal can be consummated.” He added, “If it can… that will be a preference. If it cannot, we will just have to see what the outcome will be.”

Before departing Washington, Netanyahu described the visit as “short but important,” emphasizing the “very close, very genuine, and very open relationship” between the two leaders.

While noting that Trump believes Iran now understands “who they are dealing with,” Netanyahu expressed “general skepticism” about any agreement, stressing that any deal must address not only the nuclear issue, but also ballistic missiles and Iran’s regional proxies.
