Carlson framed Israel as a “tiny, irrelevant country” that “orders around” the United States while accusing American lawmakers of being beholden to Jewish organizations.

Tucker Carlson is facing renewed criticism for remarks that echo classic antisemitic tropes, including claims about Jewish influence over the U.S. government and attacks on Zionism as a supposed threat to Western civilization. The comments were made during his appearance on the Shawn Ryan Show on Monday.
In the interview, Carlson framed Israel as a “tiny, irrelevant country” that “orders around” the United States, while accusing American lawmakers of being beholden to Jewish organizations. “95% of members of Congress take money from a foreign lobby, AIPAC,” Carlson said, calling Israel “America’s most insulting problem” and claiming that the country wields disproportionate influence over U.S. policy.
Carlson aligned himself with far-right extremist Nick Fuentes, stating, “His message is we’ve been betrayed by the people who thought we’re on our side. They actually sold us out. Well, that’s certainly true.”
He added that voices on both the far right and far left share similar frustration over Israel. “Both sides are enraged by people serving Israel. What? Nobody cares about Israel. Just shut up about Israel,” he said. Fuentes is a prominent white supremacist with a long history of antisemitic statements.
Carlson also framed Zionism as a threat to Western civilization. “There are enemies of Western civilization,” he said. “An attack on Western civilization looks like this: It’s tribalism, it’s identity politics, it’s DEI, it’s whatever – Zionism.” He added, “It’s any belief system that begins with the understanding that one group is morally superior to other groups. We don’t think in terms of groups as Christians or Westerners; we think in terms of the individual.”
He denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, “What does it mean to defend the West? You know, Netanyahu, ‘I’m a defender of Western civilization.’ No, you’re its enemy. Of course, you’re literally its main enemy.” Carlson compared Zionism to the ideology of the Nazis, stating, “Why are the Nazis bad? The Nazis are bad because for that exact same reason, and so, if you want to defend the West, you defend a single proposition, and everything emanates from that proposition.”
Although Carlson claimed that he “wishes Israel well,” his remarks echo antisemitic narratives portraying Jews and Israel as manipulative, disloyal, or a threat to Western values.
This antisemitic, anti-Israel tirade is just the latest in Carlson’s rapidly expanding list of hateful statements, coming amid a sharp rise in antisemitism from the far right, particularly on podcasts and social media, where extremist views are amplified and normalized.
