If the visit proceeds as planned, it would come at a significant moment for Israel as the country marks Independence Day during wartime.

President Donald Trump confirmed over the weekend that he is planning to visit Israel next month during Israel’s Independence Day celebrations, where he is expected to receive the Israel Prize in person.
Israeli media had previously reported that the Israeli government was preparing for Trump to accept an invitation extended earlier this year to attend the ceremony on April 22. The reports cited internal government communications indicating that preparations were already underway for a possible presidential visit.
In an interview published Sunday by Israel’s Channel 14, Trump confirmed the expected trip when asked whether he would travel to Israel to receive the Israel Prize.
“Yes, it looks like it,” the president said.
The Israel Prize, the country’s highest civilian honor, is typically awarded to Israeli citizens for contributions to society, culture, science, and national life. The decision to award the prize to Trump marks the first time in the award’s history that it will be given to a non-Israeli recipient.
Israel formally invited Trump in February to travel to Jerusalem to personally receive the prize, which was awarded for what officials described as lifetime contributions to the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The invitation letter stated that the prize committee had reached a historic decision to recognize Trump’s leadership and his impact on Israel-U.S. relations.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place as part of Israel’s official Independence Day events in Jerusalem and is expected to be attended by senior Israeli leadership and public figures. Israeli officials have also discussed the possibility of Trump participating in additional Independence Day ceremonies during the visit.
If the visit proceeds as planned, it would come at a significant moment for Israel as the country marks Independence Day during wartime and would serve as a major symbolic show of support and alliance between Israel and the United States.
Trump has remained closely aligned with Israel throughout his political career, and Israeli officials have repeatedly credited him with strengthening the strategic relationship between the two countries. His expected visit during Independence Day celebrations is likely to be viewed in Israel as both a diplomatic and symbolic gesture during a critical period for the country.
