“We will spare no effort until all our hostages are returned — every last one of them.”
By United with Israel Staff
Israel has received the bodies of three fallen IDF soldiers who were slain defending the nation on Oct. 7 and abducted into Gaza by Hamas terrorists.
The transfer, coordinated through the Red Cross and carried out by the IDF and Shin Bet, took place overnight.
Following forensic testing at the National Institute for Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv, the remains were identified as Lt. Col. Asaf Hamami, Capt. Omer Neutra, and Sgt. Oz Daniel — all of whom fought heroically during the Hamas invasion of southern Israel.
Hamami, 41, commanded the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division and was killed in battle near Kibbutz Nirim while leading his troops against invading terrorists. Neutra, 22, an Israeli American from Long Island, and Daniel, 19, were serving together in a tank near the Gaza border when they were killed in combat. Their bodies were held in Gaza for more than two years.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the identification process had been completed in cooperation with the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israel Police, and the Military Rabbinate:
“Following the completion of the identification process, IDF representatives informed the families of the fallen hostages, Lt. Col. Asaf Hamami, Capt. Omer Max Neutra, and Sgt. Oz Daniel that their loved ones have been returned to Israel and their identification is complete.
The Government of Israel shares in the deep sorrow of the Hamami, Neutra, and Daniel families, and of all the families of the fallen hostages.
The government and the entire national system of the State of Israel are determined, committed, and working tirelessly to bring back all of our fallen hostages for a proper burial in their homeland.
The Hamas terror organization must fulfill its commitments to the mediators and return the remaining bodies under the terms of the agreement. We will not compromise on this and will spare no effort until all our hostages are returned — every last one of them.”
These fallen soldiers gave their lives defending their homeland, embodying courage and dedication in the face of terror. Their families, the IDF, and all of Israel honor their memory, remembering them as heroes who stood resolute to protect their country.
