Authorities in Utah say they prevented a potentially deadly antisemitic attack this week after arresting a man accused of threatening to bomb synagogues and amassing homemade explosive devices.
Skyler A.J. Rose, 21, was taken into custody Tuesday after Ogden police received detailed information linking him to extremist content posted online.
According to court records, the tip included Rose’s social media username and screenshots of posts in which he allegedly wrote, “I wanna blow up a synagogue.”
Police said family members confirmed that Rose was the individual behind the account. Officers were allowed into the home, where they discovered a partially assembled pipe bomb in Rose’s bedroom, along with marijuana. Investigators later obtained a search warrant and expanded the search.
Authorities said six additional homemade explosive devices were found elsewhere in the residence, several of which were assessed as fully functional. An assault rifle was also recovered from the bedroom.
“At this time, the bombs appear to be completed and operational,” investigators wrote in the affidavit.
Rose was charged with multiple serious offenses, including manufacturing a weapon of mass destruction, making a terrorist threat, prohibited conduct involving a dangerous weapon, and drug possession. He is being held without bail.
Investigators said the combination of explicit antisemitic threats, explosives, and a firearm led them to conclude that Rose posed a serious threat to public safety.
The arrest comes amid a growing global surge in antisemitism, as Jewish communities face escalating threats, attacks, and attempted attacks worldwide.
In recent weeks, Jews have been targeted in violent antisemitic incidents in New York, while Australia was shaken by a deadly terror attack during Chanukah celebrations.
Across the United States and beyond, synagogues and Jewish institutions have reported a sharp increase in threats, reinforcing warnings from security officials that online incitement and radicalization are increasingly translating into real-world violence.
