Rep. Elise Stefanik was honored Sunday by Chabad of Stamford with its inaugural “Eishet Chayil,” or “Woman of Valor,” award in Connecticut, where she warned that rising antisemitism threatens both Jewish communities and broader Western society.
The award, rooted in Jewish tradition, recognizes strength, faith, and dedication to community.
Stefanik received the recognition during an event where she addressed concerns about increasing anti-Jewish incidents in the United States.
In her remarks, Stefanik pointed to the aftermath of the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas in Israel as a defining moment for Jewish communities worldwide.
She said antisemitic incidents have risen across the United States, including in major cities and on college campuses.
She also expressed support for Israel and backed President Donald Trump’s efforts targeting Iran, describing the situation as part of a broader fight against terrorism.
Stefanik, a Catholic, referenced teachings from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops condemning antisemitism and called for greater moral clarity in confronting hate.
She concluded by emphasizing unity during the overlapping religious observances of Easter and Passover, highlighting solidarity between faith communities.
Stefanik represents New York’s 21st Congressional District, which covers a large portion of upstate New York. First elected in 2014, she was among the youngest women elected to Congress at the time.
She has held senior leadership roles within the Republican Party, including serving as House Republican Conference chair. She is known for her support of Israel, her criticism of higher education institutions over antisemitism issues, and her close political alignment with President Donald Trump.
Before entering politics, Stefanik worked in government and public policy, including roles in the George W. Bush administration.
