“Who would have believed 80 years ago that our brave pilots would be flying over Tehran?” Netanyahu said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, met Sunday with Holocaust survivors selected to light torches on Holocaust Remembrance Day in a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem.
During the meeting, the prime minister and his wife listened to the survivors’ personal stories and expressed deep admiration for their resilience in the face of Nazi persecution.
The survivors spoke about their journey to the Land of Israel after the Holocaust, describing their role in building the state and the generations and families they established in its wake.
Addressing the group, Netanyahu called the annual meeting “an extraordinarily moving moment,” praising the survivors as “people of immense spirit.”
“You endured unimaginable suffering, and you came to the Land of Israel and took part in the great revival,” he said.
Netanyahu contrasted the vulnerability of the Jewish people during the Holocaust with Israel’s current strength, pointing to recent military operations against its enemies.
“Today, we are hunting down those who seek to destroy us,” he said. “We prevented them from carrying out their plans of annihilation with a force that has brought the State of Israel to the height of its power since its founding.”
He highlighted the transformation in Israel’s military capabilities, including operations deep inside enemy territory.
“Who would have believed 80 years ago that our brave pilots would be flying over Iran, over Tehran,” Netanyahu said, “not alone, but alongside the greatest power in the world, flying wing-to-wing to strike those who seek our destruction?”
“This is a profound change in our situation,” he added, “a profound change from what you experienced in your own lives.”
Netanyahu concluded with a message of national resilience and continuity.
“This means the people of Israel live — strong and powerful,” he said. “There will not be another Holocaust.”
