Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used a press conference during Israel’s ongoing campaign against Iran and its regional proxies to emphasize what he described as the deeper force sustaining the country through war: the spirit and faith of the Jewish people.
Against the backdrop of intense military operations against the Iranian regime and Hezbollah, Netanyahu framed the conflict as part of a historic struggle for Israel’s survival and renewal.
“This is an opportunity that the Holy One, blessed be He, has given us to return to our land,” Netanyahu said while taking questions from reporters. “To renew our independence, rebuild our strength, and push back our enemies. And if we must push them back again and again, then we will do so again and again.”
He described the moment as part of a larger story of Jewish perseverance, saying Israel’s ability to withstand repeated threats stems from a national determination rooted in faith, history, and the understanding that the Jewish people will never again face destruction or exile.
The prime minister also highlighted a remarkable wartime phenomenon, recalling a recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump.
“President Trump said to me with astonishment: ‘Only in Israel are the rescue flights reversed. Everywhere else people want to flee war zones — and only in Israel does everyone want to return.’”
Netanyahu said Trump repeatedly asked him what explains that phenomenon.
“He always asks me, ‘Where does this spirit come from?’” Netanyahu said. “And I answer him: it is the secret of our success. It is the resilience of our people. It is the power of our faith — the faith in the eternity of Israel.”
Throughout his remarks, Netanyahu portrayed the war not only as a military confrontation with Iran and its allies, but as part of a defining moment in Israel’s history.
Earlier in the press conference, Netanyahu said Israeli and American forces had achieved major successes in operations against the Iranian regime and Hezbollah, describing the campaign as one that is reshaping the balance of power in the Middle East.
“Already now we can say with certainty: this is no longer the same Iran, this is no longer the same Middle East, and this is no longer the same Israel,” he said.
“We are not waiting. We are initiating, we are striking — and we are doing so with a power unlike anything that has existed before.”
