Israel closed out the World Kickboxing Championships in Abu Dhabi with one of its strongest showings to date, finishing the international tournament with seven medals as the competition wrapped up on Saturday.
The event drew roughly 2,000 athletes representing 85 countries, creating one of the largest fields ever assembled for the championship series.
The delegation’s standout performance came from 26-year-old Yulia Sachkov, who secured Israel’s lone gold medal after defeating her Czech opponent in the finals.
The win marks her second world title and adds to her previous accomplishments as a former world and European champion.
Two additional Israelis, Osaid Goda and Yosef Aybazli, advanced through their brackets to reach the finals and finished with silver medals.
Goda competed despite a right-hand injury but completed every bout on the path to the championship match.
Aybazli also delivered a strong run, securing his place among the tournament’s top finishers.
Four more Israelis earned bronze across various categories, rounding out the team’s total of seven medals.
Coaches and team staff said the combined results reflected both the delegation’s depth and the momentum that has shaped the program in recent years.
A statement celebrating the team’s performance highlighted the significance of the outcome. “This is a remarkable achievement for Israeli sports,” it said, adding that the medal haul demonstrated the determination and competitive strength of the athletes representing the country.
The championships, hosted this year by the United Arab Emirates, brought together fighters from multiple weight classes and disciplines in a multi-day competition.
Israel’s contingent returned with one of its best medal counts at a major international event, drawing praise from supporters who marked the occasion by congratulating the athletes and the wider delegation
