Iran has delivered its response to the latest U.S. ceasefire proposal through Pakistani mediators, according to the country’s state-run IRNA news agency, as diplomatic efforts continue to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The response has also been passed to U.S. officials, according to Al Jazeera, though details of Tehran’s position remain limited.
According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, the reply focuses on “ending the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon,” where fighting has continued alongside the broader regional conflict.
The development comes after U.S. officials said they expected a response within hours late last week. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that Washington anticipated an answer soon, while President Donald Trump suggested it could arrive that same night. No official confirmation emerged by Saturday.
At the same time, diplomatic efforts have continued behind the scenes. According to Axios, Rubio and White House envoy Steve Witkoff met Saturday in Miami with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as part of a push to advance a deal to end the war.
Iranian messaging in recent days has also pointed to ongoing distrust. A report by the ISNA news agency said U.S. military activity in the Persian Gulf has deepened doubts in Tehran about Washington’s intentions, accusing American forces of escalating tensions and undermining ceasefire efforts.
