The IDF announced Sunday that it had eliminated senior Hezbollah commander Ali Musa Daqduq in a strike in southern Lebanon, describing him as one of the terror group’s most experienced operatives and a key figure in attacks against both Israel and the United States.

According to the military, Daqduq was killed in an operation conducted south of the Litani River over the weekend.

The veteran Hezbollah commander held a series of senior positions within the organization over the years and was considered a major operational asset due to his extensive experience and deep institutional knowledge.

Among his roles, Daqduq served as head of security for former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, a commander in the elite Radwan Force, a commander within Hezbollah’s operations division, head of the organization’s infantry unit, and later commander of Hezbollah’s “Golan File.”

The Golan File was responsible for establishing Hezbollah military infrastructure in Syria and building terrorist capabilities near Israel’s northern border. The network was publicly exposed by the IDF in 2019 as part of Iran and Hezbollah’s efforts to create an additional front against Israel.

Israeli officials said Daqduq played a central role in planning and coordinating terrorist operations against Israel and IDF forces for years, leading many of Hezbollah’s operational preparations against Israeli troops.

His activities also made him a target of the United States. In 2007, American forces captured Daqduq in Iraq after he was implicated in the kidnapping and killing of five U.S. soldiers in an attack carried out by Iranian-backed militants.

The IDF described the strike as both a significant blow to Hezbollah’s leadership structure and the closing of a long chapter involving one of the organization’s most prominent operational commanders.

“Ali Musa Daqduq was a central source of operational knowledge and experience within Hezbollah,” the military said, adding that he was involved in advancing terror attacks and combat operations against Israel throughout recent years.

The elimination comes as Israeli forces continue operations against Hezbollah infrastructure and senior operatives across southern Lebanon, part of an ongoing campaign aimed at preventing the Iran-backed terror group from reestablishing military capabilities near Israel’s border.

Israeli officials said the operation underscores the military’s continued commitment to targeting Hezbollah commanders responsible for attacks against Israeli civilians, IDF troops, and allied forces.

“The IDF will continue to act against Hezbollah commanders and operatives wherever necessary,” the military said.
