Despite Israel’s formal accession, Prime Minister Netanyahu will not travel to Washington for the February 19 Board of Peace meeting.

The Board of Peace formally welcomed Israel on Thursday in a public announcement posted on X, marking Jerusalem’s official entry into the international framework focused on postwar governance and regional stabilization.

Israel had signed onto the initiative a day earlier, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally endorsing the charter alongside U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ahead of his meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House.

The signing represented a diplomatic step as Washington and Jerusalem intensify coordination on Gaza and broader regional security matters.

The Board of Peace was initially established on January 22, when 19 countries signed its charter on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

According to the framework presented there, the body was created to help address the situation in Gaza, oversee postwar governance mechanisms, and support conflict prevention and mediation efforts in other regions.

The initiative is structured around governance arrangements tied to the Gaza Strip and broader stabilization efforts, forming part of the international diplomatic architecture surrounding the ongoing war and its aftermath.

However, even as Israel formally joined the body, Netanyahu’s participation in its upcoming Washington session will be limited.

As Netanyahu departed Washington on Thursday evening following his brief visit to the United States, his office clarified that he will not return to the capital next week.

Despite Israel’s formal accession, Prime Minister Netanyahu will not travel to Washington for the February 19 Board of Peace meeting.

The Prime Minister’s Office said he will instead participate virtually in the annual AIPAC conference and therefore will not attend the Washington gathering in person.
