Third US Carrier Arrives as Trump Warns ‘Clock Is Ticking’ for Iran

A third U.S. aircraft carrier has entered the broader Middle East region, as the USS George H.W. Bush strike group arrived in the Indian Ocean, U.S. Central Command confirmed Thursday.

With its arrival, three U.S. Navy nuclear-powered carriers are now operating within CENTCOM’s area of responsibility. The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77), the final Nimitz-class supercarrier, joins the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in the Arabian Sea and the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), currently deployed in the Red Sea after transiting the Suez Canal.

The expanded U.S. naval presence comes amid escalating tensions with Iran and increasingly forceful rhetoric from President Donald Trump, who warned Thursday that “the clock is ticking” for Tehran.

In a series of posts and interviews, Trump dismissed suggestions that he is seeking a quick ceasefire, insisting that time is on Washington’s side. “I have all the time in the World, but Iran doesn’t — the clock is ticking,” he wrote, while pointing to recent U.S. military operations and what he described as the weakening of Iran’s capabilities.

Trump also claimed Iran is in disarray internally, saying the country is “all messed up” and lacks clear leadership. “They have no idea who their leader is,” he said, adding that recent developments have left Tehran struggling to respond.

Following the collapse of talks earlier this week, Trump emphasized that any future agreement would be on U.S. terms. “A deal will only be made when it’s appropriate and good for the United States, our allies, and the rest of the world,” he said.

The simultaneous buildup of U.S. naval forces and the sharp rhetoric from Washington underscore the mounting pressure on Iran as tensions continue to rise across the region.
