“I’m not going to let them rush the United States into making a deal that is not as good as it could have been,” Trump wrote.

President Donald Trump on Monday laid out his position on Iran in a series of posts and public remarks, defending recent military action while signaling openness to a negotiated deal, but making clear he will not be rushed into an agreement.
Trump opened the post by rejecting claims that Israel influenced his decision to confront Iran, writing, “Israel never talked me into the war with Iran.”
He went on to say the move was driven by the aftermath of the October 7 attacks and his long-held position that “IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”
At the same time, he insisted that any agreement reached under his administration would be significantly stronger than past efforts, sharply criticizing the 2015 nuclear deal. “If a deal happens under ‘TRUMP,’ it will guarantee peace, security, and safety… for Israel, the Middle East, and beyond,” he said.
Despite reports that a second round of U.S.-Iran talks could resume in Pakistan as early as Wednesday, Trump stressed that timing is not a factor in his decision-making. “I’m not going to let them rush the United States into making a deal that is not as good as it could have been,” he wrote, adding, “I am under no pressure whatsoever.”
In an interview earlier Monday, Trump said the current ceasefire with Iran is set to expire Wednesday evening Washington time and is “highly unlikely” to be extended if no agreement is reached. “If there’s no deal, I would certainly expect” fighting to resume, he said.
The president also pointed to what he described as U.S. military success in the conflict, saying “we’re winning a war, by a lot,” and highlighting the impact of a naval blockade that he said is costing Iran roughly $500 million per day.
He further praised recent operations against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, calling Operation Midnight Hammer a “complete and total obliteration” of key sites, while pushing back against media reports that questioned the extent of the damage.
The flurry of statements comes amid mixed signals from Tehran. Iranian officials have rejected the possibility of negotiations under pressure, with a senior parliamentary figure warning that the regime has “prepared to reveal new cards on the battlefield” in recent weeks.
He added that Iran would not enter talks “under threats,” signaling a hardening stance even as reports point to a possible resumption of negotiations in Pakistan.
With talks potentially looming but rhetoric intensifying on both sides, the path forward remains uncertain, as Washington continues to pair diplomatic outreach with the threat of renewed military action.
