“Larijani and the commander of the Basij were eliminated tonight and joined the head of the destruction program deep in hell,” Katz said.

Senior Iranian officials and commanders tied to the regime’s military and internal security apparatus were killed in a series of Israeli strikes overnight, according to Israeli officials and military sources.
Among the most significant targets was Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and one of the most influential figures in the Iranian leadership.
Israeli officials said Larijani functioned as a senior decision-maker within the regime and often acted as a stand-in for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in managing key national security decisions. He was also closely associated with the regime’s response to domestic protests, including the violent suppression of demonstrations in recent years.
According to Israeli officials, Larijani was located by intelligence services in a safe house in Tehran before being targeted in an Israeli Air Force strike.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he was briefed on the developments during a security assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. Katz said Israel’s leadership had instructed the military to continue targeting senior figures in Iran’s ruling establishment.
“Larijani and the commander of the Basij were eliminated tonight and joined the head of the destruction program, Khamenei, and the other members of the axis of evil deep in hell,” Katz said. “The prime minister and I have instructed the IDF to continue hunting the leadership of the Iranian terror and repression regime.”

In the same wave of operations, the IDF said it eliminated Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Basij paramilitary force, which operates under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Basij has been widely used by the regime to suppress protests, enforce internal security, and mobilize forces in support of the IRGC.
Israeli officials said Soleimani was killed along with several senior aides, including his deputy, in a strike on an improvised command post composed of tents roughly 1,600 kilometers from Israel’s border. The temporary headquarters had reportedly been established because Basij commanders were avoiding permanent military bases out of concern they would be targeted.
An Israeli source said the site was hosting a meeting of multiple regional Basij commanders, suggesting that additional senior officers may also have been killed in the strike.
Separately, Israel confirmed the killing of Akram al-Ajouri, the head of the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who had long been involved in directing rocket attacks toward Israeli communities and organizing attacks in the West Bank.
According to Israeli officials, Ajouri had previously fled the West Bank to Gaza and later relocated to Syria before being tracked by Israeli intelligence to a safe house in Tehran, where he was killed in an airstrike last week.
The eliminations mark a deepening phase in Israel’s campaign against the Iranian regime, increasingly targeting the commanders and power centers that sustain Tehran’s military reach across the region.
