Israeli security forces eliminated two terrorists this week in separate counterterrorism operations in Nablus and Jenin, bringing to a close extended manhunts and underscoring Israel’s commitment to tracking down those who target its soldiers and civilians.

Late Monday night, Yamam, IDF and Shin Bet forces carried out a precise raid in eastern Nablus targeting a terrorist responsible for the May 29, 2024, car ramming that killed two Kfir Brigade soldiers, Sgt. Diego Gabriel Hersage and Sgt. Elia Hillel, at the entrance to the city. According to the IDF, the forces surrounded the building where the terrorist was hiding.

“During the operation on the building where the terrorist was hiding, it became clear that he was barricaded and armed. In response, the forces used precise fire at the target to neutralize the threat,” the IDF said. After scanning the site with a drone, the terrorist was confirmed killed.

The statement added: “Since fleeing the scene of the attack, Shin Bet and the IDF conducted a continuous intelligence effort until the circle was closed, carried out tonight by Yamam and Shin Bet under the command of the Shomron Brigade. Several accomplices who assisted the terrorist were also arrested during the operation. Security forces continue to act broadly to prevent terrorism against anyone who would harm Israeli civilians or security forces.”

On Tuesday morning, a second operation was conducted south of Jenin in the Menashe Brigade area, where Yamam and Shin Bet forces eliminated Sultan al-Ghani, who carried out an August 18, 2024 attack in the Brown Industrial Zone. During the attack, al-Ghani assaulted and killed Gideon Peri with a hammer, seized his firearm and vehicle, and fled.

The IDF said: “During an overnight operation, Yamam, Paratroopers reconnaissance units, and Shin Bet forces arrested five accomplices who had assisted the terrorist. The forces then surrounded the building where the terrorist was barricaded. After an exchange of fire, the terrorist was eliminated. Following searches of the building, the forces located a Carlo submachine gun, an M16 rifle, an explosive device, and magazines with ammunition. Since fleeing after the attack, Shin Bet and IDF conducted a continuous intelligence effort until the circle was closed and the terrorist eliminated. Security forces continue to act broadly to prevent terrorism against anyone who would harm Israeli civilians or security forces.”

Both operations demonstrate Israel’s determination to pursue terrorists relentlessly, regardless of how long they hide or where they attempt to flee. Israeli commanders praised the coordination between Yamam, the IDF, and Shin Bet, saying the successful raids reflect Israel’s continued focus on dismantling terrorist networks and protecting soldiers and civilians alike.
