For growers and packers, the pitch is simple: Know earlier what you have, know faster what condition it’s in, and waste less along the way.

Israel-based AgroFresh Solutions says it wants to make fruit harvesting and evaluating freshness less about guesswork and more about clarity, thanks to two new AI partnerships.
The company revealed it is integrating technology from Aerobotics and Neolithics into its FreshCloud digital platform, extending AI-driven insight from fruit still hanging on trees to produce already moving through industrial packhouses.
For growers and packers, the pitch is simple: know earlier what you have, know faster what condition it’s in, and waste less along the way.
“AgroFresh is committed to building the most holistic and connected digital platform in fresh produce,” Bradford Warner, head of digital solutions at AgroFresh Solutions, told OurCrowd. “By integrating partners like Aerobotics and Neolithics, FreshCloud now connects orchard-to-packhouse intelligence like never before.”
Aerobotics brings AI-powered orchard analytics into the system using computer vision applied to smartphone images.
Its TrueFruit tools allow growers to measure fruit size, color, and quality objectively, spot defects early, and forecast yields more accurately.
AgroFresh said customers using the technology typically increase packouts by 1% to 5%, a meaningful gain in an industry where small improvements can translate into major revenue shifts.
“Aerobotics has always focused on empowering growers and packers with highly accurate yield,” said Aerobotics CEO James Paterson. “We are excited to partner with AgroFresh, as a key leader in our industry, to offer TrueFruitFreshCloud to more customers and combine the power of our technology with FreshCloud. Together, these solutions seamlessly extend insights from the orchard into the post-harvest stage, providing continuity of data and enhancing decisions across the value chain.”
Neolithics tackles a different problem: how to inspect fruit at speed without destroying it. Its AI-driven imaging scans every piece of produce on the line, from berries to avocados, checking both internal and external quality in real time.
The system measures brix, acidity, and dry matter while detecting hidden defects, operating at industrial scale with accuracy above 90%, according to the company.
“We want to enable customers to protect their produce through high-volume, non-destructive quality inspections by reducing waste and creating greater transparency from field to shelf,” said Neolithics CEO Kate Murray. “We’re excited to integrate with AgroFresh and their FreshCloud ecosystem to realize our shared vision for a more sustainable, transparent food chain.”
AgroFresh said the expanded FreshCloud ecosystem reflects a broader shift in agriculture, as AI tools move out of pilot programs and into the daily workflows that determine what reaches store shelves and what never makes it that far.
