“I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK and I am going to kill every single Jew inside,” Marcoulier said.

A 22-year-old U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Polk has been charged after allegedly threatening to carry out a mass shooting at a synagogue, according to federal authorities.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana said Jakob Marcoulier was charged by criminal complaint with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce. He faces up to five years in federal prison if convicted.
According to court documents, the FBI received a tip in February about a Discord user who had made violent, antisemitic threats online. Investigators later identified the user as Marcoulier and obtained recorded audio in which he allegedly outlined plans to attack a synagogue.
In one recording, Marcoulier said, “after this deployment, if the Jews still have reign over our government, I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK… and I am going to kill every single Jew inside,” calling it his “goal in life.”
The recording also points to extremist, white supremacist motivations. Marcoulier allegedly said, “you guys will never do anything about it, but I will… I just have to finish this… and then you’ll see me in the news. I promise you,” adding that “you guys don’t want to do anything for the f***ing cause… I’ll still kill these mother****ers in order to make sure the white youth is f***ing secured.”
Federal officials said the case underscores ongoing efforts to prevent acts of violence before they occur.
“Threats against synagogues and Jewish Americans are threats to the religious freedom promised to every single one of us,” said U.S. Attorney Zachary Keller. “This case demonstrates the FBI’s vigilance and swift action… and our Office looks forward to seeing justice done.”
FBI Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp said the investigation began after a concerned individual reported the threats through the bureau’s tip line.
“The FBI is focused on preventing violent hate crime attacks and disrupting violent criminal plots before they occur,” Tapp said, adding that agents in multiple field offices, along with U.S. Army investigators, “acted swiftly in this case.”
Marcoulier was arrested on April 23. The case is being investigated by the FBI and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisiana.
