In a high-level ceremony at Blair House in Washington, Israel and the United States signed a groundbreaking memorandum of understanding (MOU) Tuesday, deepening their alliance in the fields of artificial intelligence and energy infrastructure.
The agreement marks a major step forward in joint innovation between the two countries.
It was signed in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and Israeli Ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter.
The strategic framework was developed under the leadership of Israel’s Energy Secretary Eli Cohen.
The MOU focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into both nations’ energy grids, fostering research and innovation, and coordinating on secure digital infrastructure.
It also supports regional projects such as the Abraham Accords and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). A dedicated working group will be formed to establish shared standards and best practices.
“The future belongs to those who innovate,” said Netanyahu. “America and Israel are the prime innovation nations on the planet. AI is the thrust of innovation now … This day will be remembered. Not every signing ceremony is as significant as this. This is very significant.”
Secretary Burgum referenced recent US-Israel cooperation on Iran: “The planning, the execution, the world has never seen anything like it, truly eliminating one of the existential threats that was facing the entire world.”
“This step takes us into the future… Defense would not be working without AI,” he added.
Secretary Wright praised the alliance, saying, “Our partnership has never been tighter, never been stronger than it is today.”
As Netanyahu concluded: “It will make both of us greater again.”
