“We no longer need, or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID,” Trump wrote.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday slammed NATO allies for refusing to join the U.S. military campaign against Iran, accusing them of benefiting from American protection while declining to assist in a time of conflict.

“The United States has been informed by most of our NATO ‘Allies’ that they don’t want to get involved with our Military Operation against the Terrorist Regime of Iran,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, adding that this comes “despite the fact that almost every Country strongly agreed with what we are doing.”

“I always considered NATO to be a one-way street — we will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need,” he added.

Trump also pointed to what he described as the success of U.S. military operations against Iran.

“Fortunately, we have decimated Iran’s Military — their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar is gone and their Leaders, at virtually every level, are gone,” he wrote.

He said those gains mean Washington no longer requires outside support.

“Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer ‘need,’ or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID,” Trump wrote, extending the criticism to other U.S. allies including Japan, Australia, and South Korea.

Earlier in the week, Trump had urged allied nations to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes.

“It’s only appropriate that people who are the beneficiaries of the strait will help to make sure that nothing bad happens there,” Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times, warning that a refusal to assist “will be very bad for the future of NATO.”

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump also pointed to longstanding U.S. support for allied nations.

“Remember, in many cases they’re NATO countries. We’re always there for NATO,” he said, referencing U.S. assistance to Ukraine and broader defense commitments.

Some governments, including Australia and Japan, have already signaled they do not plan to deploy forces to the region at this stage.

At the same time, Trump confirmed that Israel is actively assisting U.S. efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz.

“They’re working with us,” he said when asked about Israel’s role in safeguarding the critical waterway.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed that coordination, saying Israel is supporting American efforts in the Gulf tied to protecting the shipping corridor.

“We are helping our American friends in the Gulf,” Netanyahu said. “I spoke at length with President Donald Trump yesterday about this issue.”

“There is cooperation between our air forces and our navies, between myself and President Trump and his people,” he added.

The United States and Israel continue to coordinate closely as operations against Iran move forward, even as several allies remain on the sidelines.
