The Israel Defense Forces announced Monday the death of Sergeant Yosef Yehuda Chirak, 22, who was killed during combat operations in the northern Gaza Strip. He is the first Israeli soldier to fall in Operation Gideon’s Chariots.

Chirak, a resident of the Harasha outpost in the Binyamin Regional Council, served in the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion. Just seven months ago, he got married, and he now leaves behind a grieving young widow, Emunah, along with his parents and three sisters.

Two additional IDF soldiers were wounded in the same incident.

Israel Ganz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council, expressed deep sorrow, saying: “Only a few months ago we danced together at Yosef Yehuda’s wedding, and now we have been informed of his fall in battle. He went out to fight to destroy the enemy. Together with our dear Emunah, he built a house that was all about dedication.”

The IDF, his family, and his community now mourn a man remembered for his love, commitment, and courage, taken far too soon.
