New details revealed Monday shed light on a covert Iranian espionage and terror network that targeted Israeli and Jewish sites worldwide, according to a report by Iran International citing a European intelligence source.

The network, operated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, focused on gathering intelligence and preparing attacks against Israeli targets, as well as U.S. military installations and Western interests.

According to the source, the operation was overseen by an officer in a secret IRGC assassination unit, identified as Alireza Mohammadi, who operated under the alias Meqdad Hassani. His role centered on recruiting and directing agents tasked with surveillance, reconnaissance, and target mapping.

Recruits were dispatched to monitor sensitive locations, including Israeli security and military sites, with intelligence sources saying dozens of such facilities were documented as part of preparations for potential attacks.

The scope of the targets underscores the network’s ambitions. These include Israeli embassies, prominent figures in Jewish communities and synagogues, and strategic infrastructure such as oil pipelines and U.S. military bases.

One of Mohammadi’s key operatives was identified as Elshad Hajiyev, 37, also known as Akram Hajizadeh, a citizen of a country neighboring Iran.

Wanted by Interpol on terrorism charges, he is believed to have taken refuge in Iran and is now working with the regime’s intelligence apparatus.

Hajiyev reportedly studied at Al-Mustafa International University in Qom, a religious institution sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in December 2020 over allegations it serves as a recruitment platform for the IRGC’s Quds Force.

U.S. officials said the university facilitated the enlistment of foreign fighters, particularly from Afghanistan and Pakistan, for Iran’s proxy operations.

University officials and Iranian clerics have pushed back on those accusations, maintaining that the institution promotes “peace, friendship, and understanding” through its academic programs.

The latest revelations highlight Iran’s continued use of global networks and institutions to advance operations targeting Israeli and Jewish interests abroad.
