Operation Rising Lion seemed to come out of the blue, and notwithstanding the success of the operation, the home front suffered significant damage from Iranian missiles.

Although many point out that it was miraculous more damage wasn’t done by Iranian aggression, many in Israel were left homeless as their property and shelter were destroyed overnight.

Fortunately, the nonprofit Pitchon Lev was there to bring comfort, shelter and needed items to those who were affected by the war.

It wasn’t easy–requests increased 600% during the 12-day war, with 11,400 people receiving aid.

“Pitchon Lev knows and has learned over the years to activate emergency systems on an international scale overnight,” said Eli Cohen, CEO of Pitchon Lev. “We are there for the citizens, down to the smallest detail. And we will not leave the citizens to deal alone with a mountain of bureaucracy, or with a lack of food and basic clothing.”

Pitchon Lev was founded in 1998 to break the cycle of poverty. With 15,000 volunteers annually, the organization distributes food parcels, baby food, diapers, clothing, and other necessities to people in need.

During the 12-day war, Pitchon Lev distributed hygiene kits, supplies for the elderly, and equipment for public shelters, such as mattresses, lighting, fans and emergency lighting.

The nonprofit has been particularly active since October 7 when it supplied Mobile Hubs for Rights to assist evacuees in hotels with filling out forms and claiming benefits they were entitled to.

“We at Pitchon Lev believe that a significant part of the rehabilitation of families is carried out through a process of understanding rights, and we accompany them until they are actually realized,” said Cohen, Pitchon Lev’s CEO. “We operate with an expanded and in-depth center that helps all residents of the State of Israel cope and stand up for their rights.”
