Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Magen David Adom (MDA) is “Israel at its best” after visiting the organization’s headquarters in Ramle and touring its facilities last week.

MDA representatives gave the prime minister a tour of the National Blood Services Center and the laboratories where donations collected from around the country are processed.

In addition, they visited the underground, fortified National Blood Bank, the first of its kind in the world, which supplies much-needed blood supplies to hospitals and the army in emergencies.

Also included in the tour was a visit to MDA’s emergency hotline and situation room, as well as a collection of emergency vehicles designed to deliver blood safely and quickly.

MDA Global President Gilad Erdan; Rabbi Avraham Manela, chairman of MDA’s executive board; MDA Director General Eli Bin; and other senior MDA officials greeted Netanyahu during the tour.

“I am awe-struck by the system built here and by the tens of thousands of volunteers,” Netanyahu said. “You are saving lives, and I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of the citizens of Israel. You are doing an incredible job—thank you. You are amazing.”

He was then led into the auditorium, where he was briefed on MDA’s operations during Operation Rising Lion. He spoke with emergency workers who provided much-needed blood to those injured by Iranian missiles.

The prime minister honored MDA volunteer EMT Dalia Farihat. After returning home from a morning shift, she responded to a nearby missile strike, treating two critically injured people—including a 16-year-old boy with shrapnel in his neck, ultimately saving his life. MDA volunteer Daniel Stein was also recognized for his bravery; after a missile hit his home, he ensured his family’s safety and then went on to evacuate casualties from the scene.

“I’m amazed … I’m overwhelmed by you—the men and women of MDA,” Netanyahu said. “What you’ve done and continue to do is unmatched anywhere in the world. Above all, the network of staff and volunteers—that is, the people of Israel and the State of Israel at their best … MDA is the best emergency service in the world, and it’s because of people like you. I want to express heartfelt thanks, on behalf of the government of Israel and the citizens of Israel, to the thousands of EMTs and volunteers in Magen David Adom. May you grow stronger and continue to flourish.”
