South Korea’s Nanointech has struck a deal with Israeli company Vocai to integrate new safety and monitoring technology into its batteries for electric buses, small electric vehicles, and large-scale energy storage systems.
The agreement, announced August 19, will see Nanointech use Vocai’s ED-10A product line, which is designed to detect problems inside batteries before they become dangerous.
Vocai says its system can pick up chemical signals at the molecular level, providing early warnings of failures that can lead to overheating and fires.
The technology, already being hailed as a breakthrough, also promises to extend battery life, improve charging speeds, and increase capacity.
Batteries equipped with the system are expected to reach the market in 2026.
For Nanointech, which supplies battery packs for public transportation and energy storage, the deal marks a step toward expanding into new global markets.
The company sees opportunities not only in electric mobility but also in stationary storage for utilities, businesses, and factories aiming to cut carbon emissions.
“Partnering with Vocai enables Nanointech to integrate world-class battery safety and predictive analytics directly into our smart battery pack systems,” said Byung-Ho Park, Nanointech’s chief executive, in a press release.
He called the collaboration a strategic move to strengthen the company’s role in the global energy storage market.
Shai Gepshtein, CEO of Vocai, said the partnership “represents a pivotal moment in enhancing battery safety and performance capabilities at industrial scale.” He added that combining the two companies’ strengths could set new benchmarks for the industry.
Nanointech has built its reputation on reliable manufacturing and advanced battery management systems, while Vocai specializes in ultra-sensitive gas sensors that turn hidden chemical data into real-time intelligence.
Together, they aim to reassure customers in both transportation and energy storage that their investments are protected while moving toward cleaner, safer electrification.
