Kibbutz Be’eri lost one-tenth of its residents in the October 7 attack.

Kibbutz Be’eri, the Gaza-border community devastated in the Hamas massacre two years ago, is preparing its first major investment since the tragedy, committing to a renewable energy project valued at about NIS 115 million ($35 million).
The kibbutz has partnered with Kibbutz Hatzerim—where Be’eri’s displaced residents have lived since the attack—and an infrastructure fund operated by Giza Singer Even, a financial advisory and investment firm.
Together, the partners will acquire a 25% stake in Arava Power, one of Israel’s leading solar energy developers. The agreement is scheduled to be finalized on Sunday.
Under the terms of the deal, Giza’s infrastructure fund will provide NIS 70 million ($21.5 million), while Be’eri and Hatzerim will each invest NIS 20 million ($6.15 million).
The investment will take the form of new shares, channeling fresh capital directly into Arava Power.
Be’eri’s contribution comes from its business operations, particularly its well-known printing press, which has been central to the kibbutz’s postwar recovery.
According to Israeli business reports, Giza’s fund will also purchase an additional 5% of Arava Power from Phoenix Insurance for NIS 25 million ($7.7 million).
Phoenix, which holds roughly 40% of the company, plans to reduce its stake to below 20% ahead of Arava Power’s expected public offering on the Israeli market, in line with regulations limiting institutional ownership in public firms.
Arava Power, founded in 2007 by Ed Hofland, David Rosenblatt, and Yossi Abramovich, launched Israel’s first large-scale solar field at Kibbutz Ketura in the Arava Desert.
The company’s current ownership includes Kibbutz Ketura and private investors, the Jewish National Fund, and the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies.
It has since expanded into a multigigawatt renewable energy portfolio in both Israel and the United States.
Two years after losing one-tenth of its residents in the October 7 attack, the kibbutz is channeling its recovery into a project that looks to Israel’s energy future.
