Three Israeli women wearing a Star of David necklace and an Israeli flag pin were expelled from one of Spain’s most prominent museums after being surrounded by a hostile crowd that shouted antisemitic insults, according to video and eyewitness accounts from the scene.

The incident took place at Madrid’s Reina Sofía Museum, where visitors reportedly began confronting the women after noticing visible Jewish and Israeli symbols.

Witnesses said dozens of people gathered around the group, shouting accusations including “child killers” and “criminal Zionists,” creating an increasingly aggressive atmosphere.

Rather than removing those harassing the women, security personnel intervened by ordering the Israeli visitors themselves to leave the premises.

According to footage recorded during the confrontation, museum staff told the women that their presence was “provoking” other visitors and that they needed to exit immediately.

During the exchange, security staff allegedly told the group that other guests felt “disturbed” by the fact that they were Jewish.

One of the women attempted to explain that she was a Holocaust survivor who had done nothing wrong, but the demand that they leave remained in place.

The museum’s management later confirmed that security personnel were instructed to remove the three Jewish visitors, including a 91-year-old Holocaust survivor, effectively ending their visit despite the harassment being directed at them rather than initiated by them.

The incident has intensified concerns about a broader trend in which visible Jewish identity and expressions of support for Israel are increasingly met with hostility and exclusion in parts of Europe.

Expelling those targeted by harassment, rather than addressing those responsible for it, raises serious questions about whether antisemitic intimidation is being allowed to shape who can safely remain in public spaces.

The episode comes amid rising antisemitic incidents across Europe since the outbreak of the Gaza war, with Jewish communities reporting increased hostility, public harassment, and discrimination tied to visible Jewish symbols.
