His unhesitating insistence on Israel’s right to protect itself became a defining example of how he approached global events.

A memorial service in Jerusalem on Sunday for slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk became far more than a moment of remembrance.

According to the Press Service of Israel, roughly 300 Israeli officials, clergy, Christian supporters and American visitors gathered to honor the Turning Point USA founder, and many said the event felt like a mission statement. What emerged was a pledge to continue the pro Israel work Kirk had championed with unusual force and clarity.

Kirk had long been a forceful voice for the Jewish state. In the first days after the Hamas atrocities of October 7, 2023, he described the moment with absolute moral clarity. “The horror and the barbarism here is hard to even comprehend,” he said, adding that Israel was “now at total war.”

His early, unhesitating insistence on Israel’s right to protect itself became a defining example of how he approached global events: without fear, without apology and always with a firm grasp of the stakes.

His efforts extended far beyond commentary. The New York Post revealed that Kirk wrote to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning that “anti-Israel and anti-Semitic trends” had reached “record levels on social media.”

In the letter he described advocating for Israel as “one of my greatest joys as a Christian” and emphasized that his concerns came from “a place of deep love for Israel and the Jewish people.” To many, this kind of clarity and commitment defined his leadership within the conservative youth movement.

The Jerusalem gathering featured a series of tributes. Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli praised Kirk’s “responsibility, clarity, discipline” and described him as a defender of truth whose loss deeply impacts the conservative world and Israel’s allies.

Pastor Rob McCoy remembered him as “faithful, humble, a wonderful husband and father,” and spoke of his weekly Sabbath rest, saying, “He found unbelievable freedom in turning everything off.”

Others, such as Tammy Martin of California, described how his message shaped their own understanding of why Christians must stand with Israel. “The truth they speak goes straight through,” she said. “Charlie was one of those people.”

Kirk’s assassination remained a painful undercurrent throughout the memorial. On September 10, 2025, he was shot in the neck by a sniper while speaking outdoors at Utah Valley University during the first stop of Turning Point USA’s American Comeback Tour. The shooter, identified as 22 year old Tyler James Robinson, was arrested three days later and now faces capital murder charges, with prosecutors alleging a politically motivated attack.

As the memorial concluded, the message was unmistakable. Those gathered in Jerusalem vowed that the hatred that silenced Charlie Kirk would not silence his mission. They pledged to defend Israel with even greater determination, honoring his memory by standing with the Jewish state at a time when clarity and courage matter most.
