Jerusalem’s City Hall honored six United Hatzalah volunteers with the mayor’s certificates of excellence at the city’s annual ceremony for standout security and medical responders, attended by Mayor Moshe Lion alongside United Hatzalah leadership, including Deputy CEO Eli Pollak and senior medical officials.
Among the honorees: Dr. Daniel Yosef Shakargy, an ambucycle physician who raced to a choking emergency on the eve of Sukkot, cleared the airway, and brought the patient back to full consciousness.
Paramedic Shir Chaver was also recognized after safely delivering a healthy baby girl during a night shift when a woman went into labor in her vehicle.

Ofir and Mazal Busani were recognized for the kind of behind-the-scenes grit that saves lives: Ofir, a Jerusalem municipal sanitation worker and volunteer responder, left his truck mid-route to perform CPR on an unconscious infant until a pulse returned, while Mazal supports operations at United Hatzalah’s national HQ.
EMT Manirva Mashni of Shuafat was honored for swift resuscitation that restored circulation and saved a life.
Pollak called the recognition “a great source of pride,” thanking the volunteers for their nonstop professionalism across the city.
