Gilat Satellite Networks said Wednesday that its Gilat DataPath division won a contract worth roughly $10 million to supply a customized Earth observation system, extending the company’s push into intelligence and geospatial technologies beyond its traditional satellite communications business.

The package is scheduled for delivery over the next year.

Company officials said the new system is built around satellites carrying diverse sensing capabilities that can feed real-time intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and situational awareness missions.

The solution includes what Gilat described as a transportable direct-downlink terminal designed to provide secure, rapid access to Earth observation data in areas where conventional infrastructure is limited.

Nicole Robinson, who leads Gilat DataPath, said in a press release that the project reflects the demands placed on governments as they confront evolving security and humanitarian challenges. “Nations today rely on resilient, mission-tailored insights and intelligence as they seek to understand the security environment, humanitarian assistance and first responder efforts,” she said. She added that the award “underscores confidence in our ability to deliver customized Earth observation capabilities based upon our time-tested and trusted SATCOM terminal solutions that enhance operational performance.”

The order highlights Gilat Defense’s expansion into markets requiring integrated sensing and geospatial solutions, an area the company has been developing as part of its broader strategy to support military and government clients seeking rapid decision-making tools.

Gilat, headquartered in Israel and traded on Nasdaq and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, develops satellite-based broadband and advanced connectivity platforms used across commercial and defense sectors.

With more than three decades of experience, the company and its subsidiaries—Gilat Wavestream, Gilat DataPath and Gilat Stellar Blu—provide a range of technologies that support multi-orbit constellations, high-throughput satellites and software-defined satellite systems.

Its defense and commercial units offer cloud-based platforms, modems, mobile satellite terminals, electronically steered antennas, and high-power amplifiers, as well as full ground-system integration, network management and cybersecurity services.

The company’s systems are used for government and defense operations, aviation and mobility services, broadband expansion, cellular backhaul, enterprise networks, aerospace applications, broadcasting and critical infrastructure.

Gilat positions its mission around expanding global connectivity, saying it is committed to delivering communications solutions to remote communities and complex operational environments.
