MDA leadership described the mission as an expression of the deep bond between Israel and the Druze community.

Five Magen David Adom ambulances, taken out of operational service in Israel and re-equipped for emergency use, have been transferred to Druze medical teams in southern Syria in a coordinated humanitarian initiative with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), alongside the IDF and COGAT.

The handover was paired with hands-on first-aid and ambulance-operation training led by Druze EMTs from MDA, designed to ensure the vehicles and medical kits are used safely and effectively in the field.

The initiative was carried out with donor consent and includes equipment packs for both EMTs and physicians.

While the transfer is being framed as a life-saving, cross-border humanitarian step, it also lands in a volatile reality for Syria’s Druze communities—particularly around the As-Suwayda area—where emergency response infrastructure has been strained and, in many cases, dangerously limited.

Israeli media have previously reported similar ambulance transfers into the region carried out quietly due to security sensitivities.

IFCJ’s involvement builds on a broader aid track record for minority communities near Israel’s border, including food deliveries and medical assistance coordinated with the IDF.

In parallel, international reporting has described Israel’s wider coordination mechanisms for aid to Syrian Druze communities, including COGAT-linked frameworks, amid ongoing instability and threats from extremist elements in the area.

At its core, the message from the organizers is simple: saving lives is non-negotiable.

MDA leadership described the mission as an expression of the deep bond between Israel and the Druze community—one rooted in shared sacrifice, family ties that cross borders, and a commitment to protect civilians from being left defenseless when emergencies hit.
