Israeli airstrikes over the weekend destroyed a fleet of transport aircraft used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to supply proxy forces across the Middle East, according to the IDF.

The strikes targeted Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, where Israeli aircraft destroyed 16 transport planes linked to the IRGC’s Quds Force, the branch responsible for coordinating Iran’s operations beyond its borders.

According to the Israeli military, the aircraft were used to move weapons and cash to Iranian-backed groups throughout the region, including Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“These aircraft were part of a supply corridor transferring weapons and money to the regime’s proxies across the Middle East,” IDF spokesman Effie Defrin said during a briefing Monday.

Satellite imagery from the airport shows extensive damage to multiple aircraft, including large cargo planes believed to include Boeing 747 transports as well as older Antonov aircraft.

Israeli officials said the airport had been under close intelligence surveillance for years, with suspicious takeoffs and landings flagged by the IDF Intelligence Directorate as part of a long-term effort to track the logistics network used by the Revolutionary Guards.

According to the military, some of the aircraft had been moved to scrap or maintenance areas within the airport complex, apparently in an attempt to make them harder to identify from the air.

The strikes were part of the broader Israeli campaign against Iranian military infrastructure during Operation Roaring Lion.

“In the past 10 days, we have struck the Iranian terror regime and destabilized it,” Defrin said. “Since the beginning of the operation, the IDF has eliminated more than 1,900 soldiers and commanders of the regime and wounded thousands more.”

Israeli officials say the ongoing campaign is aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities and disrupting the networks used by the regime to arm and finance its proxy forces across the region.
