The IDF on Monday cleared for publication the name of the second soldier killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon.

He was identified as Staff Sgt. Or Damari, 20, from Liman, a heavy engineering equipment operator serving in the 91st Division of the Combat Engineering Corps.

Damari was killed in the same incident that claimed the life of Sgt. 1st Class Maher Khatar, 38, from Majdal Shams, during fighting against Hezbollah forces along Israel’s northern front.

The military had announced Sunday that two soldiers were killed in the incident as Israeli forces continue operations against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences to Damari’s family in a statement.

“My wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Staff Sgt. Or Damari, of blessed memory, a combat engineering soldier who fell in battle in southern Lebanon,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu noted that Damari fell alongside Khatar, describing them as “two heroes who went out to fight in defense of our country against the Hezbollah terrorist organization.”

“Together with all the people of Israel, we embrace Or’s family in this difficult hour,” the prime minister said. “May his memory be a blessing.”

Meanwhile, IDF forces continued operations in southern Lebanon.

Troops from Brigade 769 identified a Hezbollah terrorist cell that was later struck by the Israeli Air Force, while forces from the 36th Division conducted targeted raids in the area, eliminating militants and locating weapons and propaganda materials.
