Following a fresh operational assessment, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered reinforcements to the northern front and the transfer of the Golani Brigade’s combat team from the Southern Command to the Northern Command, the military announced Wednesday.

Zamir held the situation assessment earlier in the day with senior commanders amid ongoing developments in Operation Roaring Lion.

According to the IDF, the redeployment is intended to strengthen forces facing Hezbollah along the northern border as the Iranian-backed terror group continues to take part in the widening regional war.

Additional reinforcements could be deployed in the coming days depending on further operational assessments.

Over the past week, the IDF has intensified strikes against Hezbollah targets in Beirut and across Lebanon as part of a broader campaign against the group’s military and financial infrastructure after Hezbollah joined the war on March 2 and began launching rockets toward northern and central Israel.

As part of that effort, Israeli Air Force fighter jets, operating under the direction of the Military Intelligence Directorate, carried out a new wave of strikes targeting assets and cash warehouses belonging to the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association, a financial network used to fund Hezbollah’s activities.

Roughly 30 sites linked to the organization have been struck over the past week.

Meanwhile, the IDF said it carried out a rapid strike Monday after identifying Hezbollah rocket launchers preparing to fire toward Israeli territory.

The launchers were destroyed shortly after detection, along with the terrorists who were seen arming them and attempting to launch rockets.

Since the start of Operation Roaring Lion, the IDF says it has destroyed more than 70 Hezbollah rocket launchers that were ready to fire toward Israel.

Amid the ongoing fighting along the northern front, two Israeli soldiers were killed over the weekend during combat operations in southern Lebanon.

The fallen troops were identified as Maj. (res.) Maher Khatar, 38, from the Druze town of Majdal Shams, and Staff Sgt. Or Damari, 20, from Liman, both serving in the Combat Engineering Corps.

According to initial findings, their unit came under fire from a Hezbollah squad late Saturday night near the Ramim mountain range close to the Israeli border.
