Two of Israel’s most inspiring survivors of Hamas captivity, Alon Ohel and Eli Sharabi reunited today in an emotional moment that has captivated the nation. The pair, who spent months together deep inside the terror tunnels of Gaza, embraced again in freedom.
The reunion comes ahead of a Channel 12 interview airing tomorrow, where Ohel reflects on the unbreakable bond he formed with Sharabi during their months underground.
According to Ohel, the connection between them was immediate and profound. He described Sharabi as a father figure in the darkest moments of captivity and a source of strength, hope, and humanity.

Sharabi often spoke lovingly about his family during their imprisonment, unaware of the unimaginable tragedy awaiting him: his wife, Lianne, and their daughters, Noiya and Yahel, were murdered on October 7. He learned of their deaths only after returning to Israel.
Ohel becomes visibly emotional in the interview as he recalls Sharabi’s devotion.
Ohel recalled the depth of their bond during captivity: “From the very first moment, we connected. He was like a father to me. He supported me, he lifted me up on his back. Eli would tell me about his family, the kind of home they had, what his daughters were like. He was an incredible father.”
The reunion of Ohel and Sharabi, now safe, free, and standing on Israeli soil is being hailed as a powerful symbol of resilience, brotherhood, and the enduring spirit of those who survived Hamas captivity.
In a message released through his family, Ohel said he never felt alone during captivity.
Over the past two years, even in the darkest moments, Alon never felt alone.
“I didn’t break for a moment in captivity, because I knew there were good people out there fighting for my return. I felt you with me( in every breath, in every tear, in every Hope,” Alon said.
Alon now faces a long road of physical and emotional rehabilitation after two years of brutal physical and mental torture as well as being shot with shrapnel in his eye and face.
