Israel has reached new defense export agreements with India totaling $8.6 billion in 2026, reinforcing its role as a major supplier to the Indian armed forces, Forbes India reported.

The report said the deals position Israel as India’s largest weapons provider after France.

India has long been Israel’s top defense customer, accounting for 34% of Israel’s total arms exports between 2020 and 2024, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

Data from the Defense Ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate, known as SIBAT, show that Israeli arms sales to India over those four years totaled about $20.5 billion, with the latest contracts signaling continued expansion.

According to Forbes India, the new agreements cover four advanced weapons systems supplied by Israeli defense companies: SPICE 1000 precision-guided bombs, Rampage air-to-surface missiles, Air Lora air-launched ballistic missiles, and the Ice Breaker missile system.

The SPICE 1000 is part of Rafael’s SPICE family of autonomous air-to-ground weapons with operational ranges of up to 100 kilometers.

The 500-kilogram munition is designed to strike targets without relying on GPS, using electro-optical guidance that matches stored imagery with real-time visuals to achieve an accuracy of less than three meters. The SPICE system has received the Israel Defense Prize.

Rampage missiles, manufactured by Elbit Systems, are air-launched weapons with a reported range of roughly 150 to 250 kilometers.

The Indian Air Force deploys the missiles on Sukhoi-30 and MiG-29 aircraft, enabling strike missions while keeping fighter jets beyond the reach of enemy air defenses.

The Air Lora system, produced by Israel Aerospace Industries’ MLM unit, is an air-launched ballistic missile capable of striking targets at distances of about 400 kilometers.

The missile weighs approximately 1,600 kilograms, travels at supersonic speed and uses satellite navigation designed to withstand jamming. It operates under a “fire-and-forget” concept and can be fitted with different warheads for hardened or soft targets.

The fourth system included in the agreements is Rafael’s Ice Breaker missile. According to Forbes India, the missile is designed to engage land and maritime targets at ranges of up to 300 kilometers.

It can operate in all weather conditions and in environments affected by electronic warfare, using infrared guidance supported by artificial intelligence.
