Australia permanently banned controversial American online personality Sneako after canceling his visa and removing him from the country over content authorities described as extremist and hateful, according to Sky News Australia.
Australian Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said new legal provisions passed earlier this year allowed the government not only to revoke Sneako’s current visa, but also to impose a lifetime prohibition on future entry into Australia.
“The clauses that have been used to cancel this visa were amended by the parliament early this year,” Burke told Sky News.
“That means it’s not simply the current visa that is cancelled, there is now a lifetime ban preventing him from ever applying for another visa to Australia. We are a better country when he is somewhere else,” he added.
Sneako, whose online content has drawn repeated criticism, has been accused of promoting antisemitic, racist and misogynistic views.
His material has also been described by critics as combining elements of Islamic extremism and Nazi ideology.
Video clips circulating online show him chanting Nazi slogans in a nightclub while dancing to Kanye West’s “Heil Hitler,” as well as shouting “Down with the Jews!” during livestreams.
Other footage shows Sneako making jihadist chants calling for Jews to be killed and repeating additional Nazi slogans.
According to the report, Sneako had already arrived in Australia before the Home Office canceled his visa on Tuesday, forcing him to leave the country.
Burke also faced criticism from some commentators and officials for allowing Sneako to enter Australia despite his history of inflammatory online content.
