NGO Monitor calls on Canadian authorities to take all lawful measures necessary to prevent extremist incitement, material support, or threats to public safety. We must support this urgent call to action!
NGO Monitor is calling on Canadian authorities to immediately investigate an Islamist group with proven ties to terror organizations and prevent it from hosting a planned event in Toronto celebrating the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas massacre.
Masar Badil, a group with ties to Canadian-listed terrorist entities, is convening an event titled “3 Years of Al-Aqsa Flood: Resistance & Return From the Belly of the Beast,” meant to bring together “militants, organizations, diasporas, and internationalists” in Toronto in November 2026.
“The Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, Masar Badil, invites all Palestinians, Arabs, and internationalists living across North America on occupied Turtle Island to convene in Toronto/Tkaronto this November 2026 for an essential assembly entitled “3 Years of Al-Aqsa Flood: Resistance & Return From the Belly of the Beast,” the Islamist group announced on its website.
The event “will be a historic convening to situate ourselves in this struggle and continue to resist with more strength and determination than ever before,” Masar Badil vows.
The group is also anti-Canadian, which is another reason for the Canadian authorities to ban the event. Masar Badil treats the United States and Canada as “imperialist” enemies to be dismantled alongside Israel. As noted by NGO Monitor, the name Tkaronto is derived from the original Mohawk word tkarón, the Indigenous name for the region.
Just this week, on Monday evening, in an address to the Jewish community at Toronto’s Holy Blossom synagogue, Prime Minister Mark Carney acknowledged the alarming rise of antisemitism in the country since Oct. 7, saying, “Canada’s civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians.” He also announced the creation of a Ministerial Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion, headed by Culture Minister Marc Miller, which would make antisemitism a priority.

In celebration of three years since the “al-Aqsa Flood,” a reference to the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre in southern Israel, Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, has announced a pro-terror event in Canada’s largest city.
As publicized on the group’s website, resistandreturn.org, “The Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, Masar Badil, invites all Palestinians, Arabs, and internationalists living across North America on occupied Turtle Island to convene in Toronto/Tkaronto this November 2026 for an essential assembly entitled “3 Years of Al-Aqsa Flood: Resistance & Return From the Belly of the Beast.”
According to the announcement, “2026 marks three years since one of the most courageous acts of resistance in our lifetimes: Al-Aqsa Flood Battle. This is the time for us in the Global North—particularly in occupied Turtle Island, the home of American and Canadian imperialism—to have a serious reckoning with this glorious feat which took the theoretical notion of liberation and made it concrete.”
I am calling on Canadian authorities to immediately investigate Masar Badil and take all lawful measures necessary to prevent extremist incitement, material support, and threats to public safety.
The federal government, together with local law enforcement and national security agencies, must ensure that Canadian spaces are not used by extremist movements to organize, fundraise, recruit, or promote violence under the guise of political activism.
Prime Minister Carney addressed the Toronto Jewish community this week, acknowledging the rise of antisemitism since Oct. 7 and announcing the creation of an Advisory Council to deal with the issue. Preventing the Masar Badil convention from taking place would be a crucial step.
