The Pentagon announced Monday that Boeing has been awarded an $8.6 billion contract to supply advanced F-15 fighter jets to Israel, a move that came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida.

Prior to his meeting with Trump, Netanyahu held discussions with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, underscoring the close coordination between Washington and Jerusalem on Israel’s security needs. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine also took part in the talks.

According to the Pentagon, the contract covers the design, integration, testing, production, and delivery of 25 new F-15IA aircraft for the Israeli Air Force, with an option for an additional 25 jets in the future.

The announcement reinforces the longstanding U.S. commitment to maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge, particularly in air power, amid ongoing instability across the Middle East.

Asked after his meeting with Netanyahu about potential U.S. arms sales elsewhere in the region, Trump said Washington was “thinking about it seriously,” while attempting to downplay concerns about regional tensions.

Israeli officials have repeatedly stressed that preserving Israel’s air superiority remains essential to regional stability.

The strategic importance of air power was highlighted last week at Hatzerim Airbase, where the Israeli Air Force graduated a new class of combat pilots during Flight Course No. 191.

Speaking at the ceremony, Netanyahu emphasized that air dominance remains a cornerstone of Israel’s security doctrine.

“Israel’s air superiority in the Middle East is a foundation of our national defense,” he said, adding that Israel will continue equipping its pilots with the most advanced capabilities needed to defend the country.
