Iran launched three domestically built satellites into low Earth orbit aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, in a mission Tehran is framing as a technical milestone and a political signal.
Iranian state media identified the payload as Paya, Kowsar and Zafar-2, saying the satellites were placed into roughly a 500-kilometer orbit and are intended for civilian Earth-observation uses such as agriculture, water management and environmental monitoring.
Iran’s official IRNA outlet described the Kowsar satellite as “Kowsar-1.5,” and said the imaging resolutions range from 15 meters to under five meters.
Israel and its allies don’t view Iran’s space program in a vacuum.

The timing also lands as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu heads to Florida for talks with President Donald Trump, with Iran expected to loom large on the agenda.
Moscow’s role matters too. Russia’s Roscosmos said the Soyuz lifted off normally and would deploy the satellites as planned, underscoring how openly Russia is advancing strategic cooperation with Tehran even as the West presses sanctions and export controls.
Iran has leaned on Russian launch capacity before; in July, a Russian rocket carried Iran’s Nahid-2 communications satellite into orbit, another reminder that the partnership is deepening across security, industry, and now space.
