The message conveyed to Beirut is that as long as Hezbollah continues its current course, Israel will act decisively.

Hezbollah’s leader, Naim Qassem, issued new threats against Israel this week, warning that “Israeli attacks cannot continue, everything has a limit.”
Speaking defiantly from his bunker, Qassem declared that the Lebanese terror organization would “not give up our weapons,” despite intensifying pressure from both Israel and the United States on the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah.
He vowed to use “all legitimate and available means” to force Israel out of disputed border enclaves, proclaiming, “We will not kneel, and we will remain standing. You have tested us before, and if you want to try again, we will not withdraw from the field.”
While Hezbollah’s leadership projects confidence, the Israel Defense Forces continue targeted operations against the group’s military infrastructure across southern Lebanon.
Ground forces have conducted limited raids within the so-called “security zone,” the contact area along the border where Israel maintains a defensive presence in coordination with the Lebanese government and international observers.
At the same time, Israeli aircraft continue to strike Hezbollah positions, weapons depots, and observation posts, with Jerusalem signaling that it will not allow the terror group to rearm or reestablish command centers near Israeli territory.
Security officials have indicated that Israel has decided to intensify its response to Hezbollah’s recent provocations following the group’s renewed military buildup. The message conveyed to Beirut is that as long as Hezbollah continues its current course, Israel will act decisively — even at the risk of escalation.
In recent days, Israeli intelligence has identified Hezbollah efforts to smuggle short-range rockets from Syria and to reoccupy and reinforce villages in southern Lebanon with armed terrorists loyal to the group.
Last week, Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a special security consultation to assess the northern front. Participants warned that Hezbollah’s renewed entrenchment represents a direct threat to Israeli civilians and that deterrence must be restored. According to the reports, Israel is preparing “disproportionate” responses should Hezbollah initiate a new round of attacks.
Qassem’s threats came just a day after a senior U.S. Treasury Department delegation visited Beirut to meet with government ministers and members of parliament.
The Trump administration officials expressed growing frustration with Lebanon’s failure to comply with the November 2024 agreement, particularly regarding the demilitarization of Hezbollah.
According to OTV Lebanon, the delegation gave Lebanon 60 days to implement the required reforms and disarm the terrorist group, warning that continued inaction could lead the U.S. to withdraw from its mediation role. Such a step could allow Israel to resume strikes on Hezbollah positions deep inside Lebanese territory, including potentially in the capital.
As the situation on the northern front grows increasingly volatile, Israel’s position is clear: It will not tolerate the rearmament or expansion of a terrorist army on its border.
Hezbollah may boast of defiance, but Israel’s military readiness and determination send a different message — that any aggression will be met with overwhelming force, and that the defense of the nation remains absolute.
