Former Israeli hostage Avinatan Or was released today from Rabin Medical Center (Beilinson Hospital), where he had been recovering since his rescue from Hamas captivity in Gaza on October 13.
Or was abducted by Hamas terrorists from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, alongside his girlfriend Noa Argamani, who was rescued in June 2024 during an IDF special operation.
The couple’s abduction became one of the most haunting symbols of the October 7 massacre with video showing Argamani being dragged away on a motorcycle, screaming “Don’t kill me!” and reaching out toward Or as he was marched away by armed terrorists.]
Doctors at Beilinson said Or had lost up to 40% of his body weight due to starvation and was held under brutal conditions during his two-year captivity in central Gaza.
“At last, we can begin our healing together,” Argamani wrote. “The recovery will be long; we still haven’t truly processed what has happened these past two years. But we won — our personal war, and the war of all those who fought to reach this moment.”
Or will now begin a rehabilitation program under the hospital’s Returned Hostages Unit, which will continue to provide medical and psychological support to him and his family.
Four other recently freed hostages, Evyatar David, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Eitan Mor, and Alon Ohel, remain hospitalized as they continue their recovery.
