Israeli-founded medical tech company OSSIO is making headlines again with the release of its latest innovation: the OSSIOfiber 2.5mm Suture Anchor.
This small but powerful implant is part of the company’s mission to revolutionize orthopedic surgery with bio-integrative, metal-free devices that promote natural healing and eliminate the long-term risks associated with traditional implants.
Designed for soft-tissue fixation procedures, such as the Brostrom repair to treat lateral ankle instability, the new anchors are smaller than ever, but stronger and smarter. They boast 55% greater pull-out strength than leading suture anchors and are engineered from OSSIO’s proprietary OSSIOfiber material. This mineral-based fiber matrix promotes bone regeneration and gradually integrates into the body, eliminating the need for follow-up surgeries or the use of permanent hardware.
“In launching our latest OSSIOfiber platform, we’ve brought to market the first small, fully bio-integrative suture anchor,” said OSSIO CEO Brian Verrier. “It outperforms current options and enhances surgical outcomes with less impact on the patient.”
Founded in Israel and backed by the Israeli investment platform OurCrowd, OSSIO has quickly become a global leader in orthopedic innovation. Over 50,000 OSSIOfiber implants have already been used across the U.S., and demand is rising.
Surgeons appreciate the fact that these implants fit seamlessly into standard procedures and use familiar tools, while patients benefit from fewer complications and a more natural recovery.
Dr. Thomas San Giovanni of Baptist Health South Florida shared his endorsement: “Outcomes with this novel material aren’t just equivalent—they’re better.”
OSSIO’s implants are approved for a wide range of orthopedic applications, including foot and ankle stabilization, as well as repairs to the shoulder, elbow, knee, hand, and wrist. As the company continues to develop new uses for its OSSIOfiber technology, it positions Israel at the forefront of global orthopedic innovation.
