Norman and Eve Rosenbaum dedicated their latest ambulance at Hertfordshire’s Sopwell House, naming it in honor of Prince William.
When Norman Rosenbaum saw a need, he met it with quiet determination and extraordinary impact.
For over two decades, Rosenbaum rallied his north London community to support Magen David Adom. His persistent campaigning resulted in funding for 16 fully-equipped ambulances that served communities across Israel.
MDA UK estimates these vehicles ultimately helped save approximately 132,000 lives.
Despite receiving MDA Israel’s Humanitarian of the Year award and the UK Prime Minister’s Points of Light award in 2018, Rosenbaum did not relish the spotlight.
At that year’s Jewish News’ Night of Heroes Awards, he demonstrated characteristic selflessness by giving his finalist recognition to fellow nominee Kerry Rosenfeld, who had raised £7 million for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.
MDA appointed Rosenbaum Honorary Manager of Magen David Adom in Israel and vice president of its UK branch in 2021, acknowledging his decades of service.
Later that year, Norman and Eve Rosenbaum dedicated their latest ambulance at Hertfordshire’s Sopwell House, naming it in honor of Prince William.
Well-wishers organized a unique tribute for Rosenbaum’s 90th birthday by bringing a former MDA ambulance to his residence, while his loved ones marked the occasion by funding a new emergency response vehicle in recognition of his contributions.
Sadly, Rosenbaum never got to see his 91st birthday, with MDA UK announcing his passing with profound respect for his decades of service.
“Magen David Adom UK mourns the loss of Norman Rosenbaum, an exceptional individual who taught me personally so much about chesed and tzedakah and has saved countless lives through the crowdfunding of 16 vehicles,” MDA UK Chief Executive Daniel Burger tells Jewish News.
“Norman is the absolute essence of a mensch and he will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.”
