A 39-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of racially aggravated assault after allegedly attacking a 15-year-old Jewish boy and a 35-year-old man outside a Jewish school in Stamford Hill, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The incident took place at approximately 6:25 p.m. near 2-4 Amhurst Park in the N16 area of north London, outside a Jewish boys’ school.

According to Shomrim, the female suspect approached a visibly Jewish schoolboy and allegedly punched him while shouting antisemitic abuse.

Volunteers from the neighborhood watch group responded to the scene and contacted police. The suspect was later arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault.

The alleged attack was the latest reported antisemitic incident targeting the Stamford Hill Haredi Jewish community.

Earlier Sunday, at approximately 3:45 p.m., another incident involving alleged racist abuse and assault was reported in the same area.

According to Shomrim, a man allegedly attacked several Haredi women, swinging a belt at them and spitting at one of the organization’s volunteers who responded to the scene.

Shomrim said the suspect also shouted racist abuse at both the victims and volunteers during the confrontation.

Volunteers detained the man until police arrived. He was arrested at the scene and later charged with racially aggravated public order offenses and assault. A court subsequently extended his detention.

The incidents come amid what officials have described as a sharp rise in antisemitic hate crimes across the United Kingdom during March and April 2026.

According to the material, the Metropolitan Police recorded 140 hate crime offenses in April, compared with 98 in March.

The British government also declared what it described as a “crisis” related to antisemitic incidents following a series of violent attacks, arson cases and stabbing incidents, particularly in London.

In late April, the UK terrorism threat level was raised from “substantial” to “severe.”
